Study programmes

A more in-depth, structured approach to meditation and Buddhism — traditional methods of study for a deeper understanding and a stronger practice.

Our Kadampa study programmes are for people who want a solid foundation in Buddhist teachings — including karma, life after death, impermanence, loving kindness, compassion and wisdom — and for those who may eventually wish to become qualified Kadampa meditation teachers. Programmes can be joined at any point, not only at the start of a new book.

FAQs

Which programme should I join?
It depends on your wishes and the location and time of classes. If you are unsure, email the Education Programme Coordinator and we will help you choose.
What are the classes like?
Each class typically includes prayers to prepare the mind, a guided meditation, a teaching covering a few pages of the book, and paired discussion about how to practise during the week.
What if it conflicts with my schedule?
Correspondence study may be possible if you cannot attend in person. Membership also gives access to many other classes — see /pricing.
What happens if I miss a session?
You can usually request an audio recording of the teaching.
How much does it cost?
You will need membership at the centre before joining FP or TTP. Standard and benefactor-style memberships include these programmes — see the membership page for current tiers.
How long does each course last?
We ask for an initial commitment of about three to six months. Completing a book can take from several months to two years or more, covering a few pages per class. Many students stay for years.
